This boy has all the toys a little guy could ever want and THIS is what he chooses to play with. Why is it that small children and cats find it awful amusing to unroll the toilet paper? And of course I'm too cheap to throw away a whole roll of TP so I got to spend a few minutes rolling it back up. That looked real pretty when I was done.
In our lives, every day brings a new story. Although each one may not be funny at the time, I'm confident that in the future we will look back and enjoy the laugh of a lifetime.

We are blessed...again!
We got good news this afternoon! I hadn't heard from the doctor's office by 4:30 and was getting a little nervous since I knew she was off tomorrow. Which would mean I wouldn't hear until Friday. I couldn't handle that so I placed a call to see if they had any news for me. Our nurse had a note waiting to call us but I beat her to it. Bubby's CT scan was normal! Thank the Lord! The doctor does want to see Bubby back in 6 weeks again though to do measurements again to see how things progress. I was ecstatic to hear the CT was clear but it still made me a little nervous that we still need to be concerned and check back in the near future. But for now, we'll be happy with the good news that we got and thank God again in our prayers that everything is alright with our little guy. As I speak, he's jumping up and down like crazy in his exersaucer. Apparently he's found his leg strength and is building up those muscles.

Waiting

Bubby had his head CT today. We were hoping he would be sleeping so they wouldn’t have any trouble with him laying still. But he woke up about 2 minutes before they came to get us to go back. The tech said we’d try it but if he can’t lie still that we’d have to reschedule it while he’s sleeping. What?! How can you know when you infant is going to sleep for sure?
But thankfully, he did amazing! I stood by him to keep him calm and he just laid there and watched the machine spin around for a couple minutes. He barely moved at all. The tech said he has had adults that don’t do that good. Another perk of having such a happy, calm baby! Now we just wait 1-2 days for the results, which won’t be quite as easy as the test itself.

Tank just gave me a little scare again too. He was climbing on his art desk like he's not supposed to do and of course he fell off. He jumped up hollering and holding his arm. Here we go again I thought. For those of you that don't remember, he was oh so graceful back in January and broke his arm the day before I was to return to work from maternity leave. But he seems to be using his arm fine after this fall tonight so hopefully we avoided another ER trip this time. I've already had my trip to the hospital today and don't care to go twice in one day.
Bubby has also discovered his tongue. He now playfully sticks his tongue out at you when you stick your's out. His father had a good time at supper playing back and forth what that new trick.

Jar Food!

Mmmmm....Squash! Bubby had his first taste of jar food tonight. He downed the whole jar with no trouble. He's growing up so fast, I don't think I'm ready for another one to be on the move soon. I like it when they stay where I put them. :) Before too long they will be joining forces and ganging up on me.

What Little Boys Are Made Of

Today's project was to clean out the camper and get it stocked and ready for our 1st camping weekend of the season. Bubby rode around in the stroller until he was sleepy and then hung out in there while I worked in the camper. Tank did his usual exploring around the property.
Whenever we go out for these little excursions outdoors, I always put old clothes & mud boots on Tank. For those of you that know him well, you understand the need for that attire. Today was no different. It didn't take long to find the GIANT puddle behind the camper. Due to this discovery, he could no longer join me inside the camper as I cleaned. I could however, hear the playful giggles of a little boy running back and forth, back and forth, thru the giant puddle. I stepped out to check on him and he came running over, soaked from the waist down. Oh well, what's a little water going to hurt, right?
As he took off to make another pass at the puddle, as any mother would, I said "don't fall down in the mid..." That's about as far as I got in my advice before he splashed down face first in the middle of the puddle. He came running over wanting me to pick him up and love on him since he fell down. Sorry Tank, you've got another thing coming if you think I'm going to pick you up! He played around a little more in this condition before I reached a stopping point in my camper cleaning and headed inside with him. We did our usual undress outside on the porch routine. The mud boots were 1/2 full of water. Guess those aren't exact water proof when you fall down and lay in the puddle. The clothes were soaked and muddy. And the boy in them wasn't much better. We headed in to get in the tub. Somehow he managed to get mud in his ears. Not sure how that happened and I probably don't want to know. So after a good scrub down, he was good as new and ready for another romp outside. The old saying suggests that "snips & snails & puppy dog tails is what little boys are made of". Although I think mine might just be made of sticks, rocks, & mud...with a touch of piss & vinegar. :)
Hope everyone enjoyed the warm windy day, in spite of a few sprinkles here and there.

Concerned

Bubby had his 6 month check up today. First of all, I can't even believe that he's 6 months old already. Where did that time go?! Anyway, at his 4 month check up, our wonderful doctor (that we LOVE!) noted that his head size had gone up a tad more in comparison to his height and weight. She said we'd just keep an eye on it and that she wasn't concerned about it yet. So today, all the usual measurements were taken and his head size jumped significantly vs. his other measurements. So since it was such a large jump and it was already a little concern last time, she ordered a head CT scan to check it out. I know it's just precautionary to check it all out and I'm sure he's totally fine. But I wouldn't be human, or a good mother, if I weren't concerned. So until we go next Tuesday and get the results after that, please consider yourself warned that I could be a little "edgy". :) So, if anyone has a little extra room in their prayers, say one for Bubby tonight. We'd really appreciate it!

Lessons Learned

This morning I will learn from my mistake I made yesterday. In the morning madness, I was running around preparing for the day and made Bubby's bottle before I got in the shower. It never fails, everyone is sound asleep when I step in the shower but the second I turn on the water all hell breaks loose. So being prepared as I try to be, I made Bubby's bottle ahead of time and set it on the changing table for me to grab quickly when he got up starving as usual. This particular morning, I actually got to finish my shower unrushed. Once I was ready, I went to the kitchen and Tank met me running from the living room saying "More please!" With my back turned to him, I beamed with pride at the fact that he used his words and asked for more instead of screaming and even used his manners and said please. Then I turned around to see what he wanted more of. Remember that bottle I had prepared in advanced? Yeah, Tank climbed up on the changing table and helped himself. I'm now trying to picture this hefty 2 1/2 year old sitting in front of the tv watching his morning cartoons while enjoying a bottle. Lovely. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal but Bubby has been having some bathroom issues so there was prune juice added to that bottle to help him out. Tank however has NEVER had bathroom issues but was surely going to have the opposite problem later that day since he had now downed the prune juice laced bottle. As I dropped them both off at daycare that morning, I issued the proper warning to their daycare provider that Tank could have some issues that day. But true to form, he saved those issues for me until we got home that night. Needless to say, I had a nice messy package waiting for me in his diaper. Again, lovely. Hence...lessons learned. This morning after I prepared the bottle in advance, I set it high up on the microwave stand when I was done. Although I was merely kidding myself, we all know that Tank can scale a tall wall with no assistance, just like spiderman, if there's something he really wants. But at least for today, the bottle remained safe.

A new undertaking!
By suggestion from a few others, I have decided to start this blog. Not only to share our memories with others, but to save those memories for years to come. I'll admit, I'm not the fancy scrapbook making creative person but give me a computer and I'll do my best to make it pretty. So this will be a dual purpose blog that I hope to save for years to come so the kids can look back and see how they enriched our lives everyday...and what they put us through! :)
Many of you have heard this story already but I'll use it as a starting point for the blog...
On Sunday, I came home from an enjoyable kid free morning surveying the Carver Craft Show and having lunch with my best friend. When I got home, my loving husband informed me that Tank was napping in his room and Bubby was sleeping in the living room. Wow! Did I win the lottery?!? What a glorious day! Shortly after he slipped outside to catch up on the outside work, I heard little footsteps upstairs. It's a common practice of Tank's to have a little fun in his room upstairs before he actually lays down to nap. Lately, he's figured out how to get his room door open and stealthly explore the upstairs bedrooms. He tried to sneak downstairs and got busted. So he was escorted back to his room. Shortly after that, Bubby woke up and was quick to let me know that he was hungry. I sat down in the comfy recliner to feed him his bottle. Again, I hear the little footsteps upstairs. But...now that I'm committed to feeding Bubby, I can't go attend to Tank just yet. So I continue to feed Bubby and will deal with Tank when I'm done. Several minutes go by and no signs of Tank roaming freely upstairs so I assume he's gone back to his room and fallen fast asleep. But that was not the case. Soon, I hear him coming downstairs again. He sneaks around the corner and shows his face. And of course, since I'm feeding Bubby, he has to come climb up and sit on me too...all 3 of us in one chair. Cozy right? Umm...no! Tank tries to climb up on my and slides down. Hmm, that was weird. So I reach a free hand and try to help him up since he's not going to go away. His arm slides out of my hand and I'm now left with a large amount of a greasy substance on my hand. This follows this exchange...
Mom!: WHAT is all over you?!?
Tank: (looking down at his arms in shock) Oh No! YUCK!!!!
Mom!: WHAT did you do?!?
Tank: (holding out his greasy arms) OH NO!!!
So apparently he now wants me to believe that strangely this greasy substance has suddenly appeared all over him, due to no actions of his own. Obviously, I'm not that dense. I have to finish feeding Bubby for another minute or two. All the while, thinking of the mess that is waiting for me upstairs. Once I'm done with Bubby, I let Tank lead me to the scene of the crime. Upstairs to our bedroom we go. He had retrieved a jar of Vaseline that I had been using on my incredibly dry hands at night, and proceeded to spread a THICK layer all over his hands, arms, head, and neck. I have learned to stop asking "Why?" at this point because I can never answer that question. He also decided to paint my pillow and the majority of our bedding with the chapped skin cure all. My reaction..."AUGH!" I gather up all the bedding to head to the laundry room, with Tank muttering in the background...."oh no! oh no! oh no!" As you can probably guess, he gets to say that a lot. With the bedding in the wash, we head to the tub to attempt to clean the mess off Tank. It's a very good thing that he had recently received his "warm weather haircut" and was sporting a short buzz cut. If not, he would have gotten it right now. After plenty of shampoo, tons of soap, and a good rough scrubbing, he was released from the wrath of bath time...leaving the scene as a well moisturized, never to be chapped again, little boy. Again, I say "AUGH!" I'm still looking for the hidden cameras that must be in my house since I'm convinced that the University is doing a study on me to see how long before I snap!
